This year, our Teddy Bear Hospital Zrinjevac was organized on May 19th and 20th, and based on the diplomas for courage, bend-aids, patchworks and balloons given away it is assumed that around 1000 little ones went through our hospital.

The first station of the Hospital was the waiting room. As a novelty, this year the students of the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation used the Educational Potential of Waiting Room for their workshop “Evolving the youngest about their peers with disabilities”. Our long-time associates, students of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, assisted us again in the diagnosis and therapy in the Hospital Laboratory and with the workshop “Clean hands without pain” taught us the

importance of regular and regular hygiene of the hands. Furthermore, the “Zubić” student of the School of Dental Medicine contributed to the educational significance of the project with their workshop, by showing children the importance of maintaining the oral cavity hygiene from the earliest age.

New workshops

The new workshops in the hospital were contributed by students from the “Neuroscience Section”, “Students Section for Health Promotion Section” and Stepp. Through the workshop “The Brain – you have it, and you can not see” our kids got insight into the secrets of our brain through the brain modeling and through the workshop “Healthy Eating and Healthy Growth” what is a healthy diet and what foods should eat.

Colleagues from Stepp were an exception to the project since their workshop “Seconds That Life Means, Emergencies in Children” was intended for parents. In this way, we rounded up the dynamic relationship between parents and doctors in the care of early pre-school children as the most vulnerable group in the society.

Cooperation with Slovenian students

This year, cooperation with the project “Medimedo”, organized by the Slovenian Medical Students’ International Committee (SloMSIC Ljubljana). Colleagues from Ljubljana joined us as volunteer doctors in our hospital. This way, we have exchanged experience in practice and achieved international co-operation.

Support and media coverage

We have been recognized by Professor of Medical School, prof. dr. sc. Aida Mujkić, prof. dr. sc. Selma Šogorić and doc. dr. sc. Aleksandar Džakula who helped with their recommendations in the realization of this project. Like in previous years, Teddy Bear Hospital did not lack media attention. The project was covered by the HRT media station, the  “Student”, “Sljeme” and “Antena Zagreb” radio stations and a large number of media portals.
